Q: Is it possible to convert this unit to also cool the water using a reverse valve?

A:

Is it possible? Sí. But the engineering that makes this a heat only model would not give you great results as a heat cool model. A better option would be to get the HP31205T.

Hi, the only metal in the heat pump that contacts the pool water is titanium.

The current draw will depend on water temperature, and air temperature but the HP21254T heat pump would generally use 6.5-7 kW per hour.

Hi, Hayward does not sell direct and therefore we do not quote pricing. This product is not affected by altitude, but it is affected by the average ambient temperature. You may find that at 9000' elevation there is not sufficient heat in the air...

Hi John, you can purchase a heat exchanger through your local pool store. A word of caution though, the heat exchanger contains a regulated refrigerant that will have to be remove by a certified technician before the exchanger can be removed and replaced...
