This is a press fit. It is not glued.

Q: What is the advantage of S310S - side mount versus S310T2 top mount? Effective filter area is equal (4.91). Design flow rate are same (98). Sand required (500#). I have inground pool and can see advantage to side mount for water lift, but is it worth the cost differential?

Hi, the biggest advantage with the side mount models is ease of service. You can take the top off the filter easily to access the sand when desired. Otherwise you would find the operation and efficiency the same.

Q: How often should sand be replaced on the Model S244S?

Hi, generally you need to replace the sand in your filter every 3-5 years. This may be longer if you don't see a loss of clarity in the pool ,or shorter if you are continually having to backwash to keep the pressure in normal range
